Christmas Blessings
2022 has been a wonderful year for Save them One by One. I am very thankful for the recent opportunity to travel to Nicaragua, December 10-17. It was just last December that we added the school sponsorship program for the month of December in two villages and this year we added an additional village. It is my vision to continue working in Nicaragua each December and to continue adding more children in each year. Currently we are taking three trips a year to Nicaragua, and we have approximately 2300 children in our school sponsorship program. As always it was also a huge blessing to be in Nicaragua and because of your support be able to deliver school uniforms and supplies to approximately 440 poverty-stricken children. Thank you for sponsoring! Also, thanks to generous donations we were able to distribute food stockings to 100 needy families. While in Nicaragua I was able to present the church in Somotillo with a wonderful communion set that was donated to them by Greenfield Baptist Church in Gretna, VA. The people were so grateful for this precious gift.
Now let me tell you about Jesus Domingo Medina, a little 8 year old boy that completely stole my heart on this trip! The first day of me arriving to Nicaragua, I saw a little boy and an older gentleman on the way to the mission house, approximately 30 minutes away. I thought they were begging for a ride so I slowed down to see where they were going. As I slowed down I found out they were begging for money. Because I had not gotten home and unpacked my money was still locked in my backpack and I could not easily get to it. Mama Marlene took what equaled to a few dollars out of her pocket and handed it to them. I snapped a quick photo and we were on our way “home”. All night my heart was troubled, why didn’t I stop and truly help them...why didn’t I get more information...why didn’t I get their story. I know that many people are left to beg on the streets often, simply because they have nothing but GOD put a heavy burden on my heart for this little guy and the man that was with him. The next day I was leaving a village and I turned down that major highway that I had seen that little guy on just the day before. Mama Marlene said this is the wrong road to go home and I said “yea I know” and she said “you’re looking for that little boy aren’t you’. I didn’t find him that day. I went back again the next day and I stopped to ask a young man and no luck, I didn’t find him again that day. The third day I traveled back to the same area no luck, saw a police checkpoint ahead so I stopped to ask the officer if he knew them and he knew exactly who I was talking about and directed me right to their hut. I found Jesus Domingo, his grandfather Ruberto, his grandmother, his mother, an aunt, uncle and a little cousin. When I say they live in extreme poverty, I really mean they are living in extreme poverty. Jesus Domingo is 8 years old, his father was deceased from some type of kidney issues. His mother appeared very young and seemed to be mentally challenged. He and his grandfather go out into the streets daily to beg for anything they can get because they have very little. I am so thankful that I was able to reconnect with Jesus and so I went out that evening and bought clothes and shoes for Jesus and his little cousin, we purchased a good amount of food and personal hygiene items for his family. The next day we delivered these items to his very grateful family. Jesus Domingo is such a ray of sunshine. He loved the camera on my cellphone and snapped a couple hundred pictures; which I will cherish forever! My last day in Somotillo I decided to go by one last time for this trip to see Jesus Domingo and carried him a bicycle and he was so excited to have it. I will be back to see him on my next trip, he definitely stole a big piece of my heart. Please pray for Jesus Domingo and his family. He is just one story of many but I am so thankful to be a part of his story.
While in Somotillo I was able to see the church building project. The building process has been a little slower than I anticipated but I know that in GOD’s time it will all work out. The concrete floors, windows and doors have been put in since I was last there. The next step will be to install the electricity. Please pray that this church building will be complete soon.
Please be in prayer about Save them One by One that it will continue growing and most importantly please be in prayer for the people of Nicaragua. I hope to return to Nicaragua sometime in the spring, March/April. I ask that you think of ways that you can do to assist with this life changing ministry?
Much Love and Blessings to you,
Jennifer
